Meet Philippe
Hello there! My name is Philippe Dastous, and I am the founder of Hold Fast Sailing School. Originally from Montreal, Quebec Canada, I have worked all around Canada and the US. My passion for sailing started when I was just 9 years old, during my summer camps. At the age of 17, I purchased my first 20 ft catamaran and have been sailing ever since.
My love for sailing inspired me to study naval architecture, which led me to design various types of vessels over the years. From bulk carriers and cruise ships to landing craft for the US army, high-speed passenger catamarans, tankers, offshore drilling rigs, and more.
However, my love for teaching and cruising eventually drew me to become a full-time sailing instructor, and that’s when Hold Fast Sailing School was born. I am now dedicated to sharing my passion and expertise with anyone who wishes to learn how to sail.
